I Can’t Be VP To Anyone” – Bishop Kukah Declares Bigger Ambition Than Presidency
The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has denied speculation suggesting he could serve as a running mate to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during an appearance on The PAP Show, Kukah made it clear that he has no intention of contesting for political office or accepting a vice-presidential role.
He emphasized that he remains fully devoted to his vocation as a Catholic priest and has no plans to abandon his spiritual calling for politics.
According to the cleric, his priesthood holds far greater significance than any government position. He stressed that no political opportunity could outweigh the spiritual responsibility he bears in serving God.
Kukah added that the notion of becoming anyone’s running mate is inconsistent with his personal convictions and life’s mission.
He further stated that there is no political offer the president could extend to him that would rival the importance of his role within the Church.
In his words:
“Do I look like somebody who can be running mate to anybody? Why will I run for the presidency? I have something that is more than the presidency. My priesthood is more than anything you can offer. Tinubu cannot offer me a ticket.”
