Inside Story: The Real Reason Gwarzo Quit As Kano Deputy Governor Revealed

The development was confirmed on Friday in a statement issued by the movement’s spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed. Gwarzo’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Shuaibu, also verified that his principal has stepped down from office.

According to the statement, Gwarzo resigned in the “overall interest of the people and the stability of governance” in Kano State, citing recent developments that affected his ability to effectively carry out his responsibilities.

Mohammed appealed to the Kano State House of Assembly not to interpret the resignation as an admission of guilt over the allegations leveled against him, emphasizing that Gwarzo maintains his innocence.

The movement described the decision as a demonstration of statesmanship, noting that it was taken to reduce political tension and avoid further distractions to governance and development in the state. It added that the move highlights Gwarzo’s commitment to peace and political maturity.

Looking ahead, the Kwankwasiyya Movement disclosed that Gwarzo will now concentrate on strengthening the group’s internal structures and refining its political strategies in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

His planned activities include rebuilding party frameworks and advocating reforms focused on people-centered leadership, social justice, and sustainable development.

The movement also called on Kano residents and supporters of the former deputy governor to remain calm, law-abiding, and dedicated to democratic principles, assuring that more details regarding the resignation will be communicated in due course.
