Kalu, Goar Celebrate Record-Breaking Participation In Abia APC Ward Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State successfully conducted its ward congresses across Umuahia North and other local government areas on Wednesday in a peaceful and well-organized exercise.

The event was closely supervised by Emmanuel Goar, Chairman of the APC Ward and Local Government Congress Committee, who led a delegation from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), alongside officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

During the exercise, Goar assured that the committee would fully comply with the party’s harmonisation directive, ensuring transparent and credible congresses that reflect the will of stakeholders.

“From what I have observed on the ground, there is no doubt that Abia State is APC. With the determination of members here today, the party is poised for a massive victory for President Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

Goar commended the peaceful conduct and high level of participation in the congresses, emphasizing that the enthusiasm demonstrated by members signals the party’s growing strength in the state.

Stanley Ohajuruka also praised the impressive turnout, expressing gratitude to Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and other stakeholders for ensuring a smooth and credible process. He congratulated the successful ward leaders, reminding them of their vital role in grassroots mobilisation and the responsibility of working diligently to secure victory for President Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Ahead of the congresses, Deputy Speaker Kalu addressed party members at the Renewed Hope Partners office in Umuahia, highlighting the importance of harmonisation in promoting unity and inclusiveness within the party.

“Harmonisation ensures that all stakeholders feel included in the selection of leaders from the ward to the state level. No individual owns the party,” Kalu said. “APC belongs to every member; the party is sovereign. Harmonisation allows everyone to have a sense of importance and relevance in deciding who will lead at every level.”

Kalu added that President Tinubu has mandated strict adherence to party decisions, with the National Chairman and NWC empowered to intervene promptly whenever deviations occur. This directive facilitated Kalu’s return to Abia to oversee the harmonised congresses, reinforcing grassroots ownership of the party.

The ward congresses represent a significant milestone in APC’s internal democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections. The process is set to continue on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with Local Government Congresses across Abia State.
