Lai Mohammed Reveals That Jollof Rice, Originally Called ‘Wollof,’ Comes From Senegal And Was Once Food Prepared For Prisoners Video

Former Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has stated that Jollof rice originated in Senegal and was originally prepared as food for prisoners.

Speaking on Channels TV on Tuesday, December 23, the former Buhari administration official explained:

“Looking at the origin of Jollof, it actually comes from the word ‘Wollof’ in Senegal. Jollof rice was initially made for prisoners—it was a simple dish served on one plate, with oil, salt, and everything. So, the origin of Jollof is Wollof. Later, perhaps through UN tourism initiatives, it appeared on Wikipedia that the origin of Jollof is Wollof.”
