The decision was reached after an emergency meeting of the association’s Executive Council and Board of Trustees held on Friday evening. In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the group said the shutdown scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2026, has been put on hold to allow for dialogue and possible resolution of the dispute.

According to the association, a stakeholders’ meeting fixed for Wednesday, April 22, 2026, will provide an opportunity to address concerns and work toward a lasting and mutually beneficial solution to the sharp rise in Jet A1 fuel prices.

However, the AON stressed that the suspension is conditional. It urged the minister to ensure that government agencies and service providers continue to support airline operations without harassment.

The group also expressed concern over the growing practice of demanding upfront payments for services, describing it as unsustainable for operators already under financial strain.

While acknowledging the Federal Government’s intervention, the AON emphasised that the suspension remains temporary and will depend on the outcome of the upcoming meeting.

It added that further decisions will be taken after evaluating the results of discussions with relevant stakeholders.
