Odigie made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

He said such international engagements should go beyond formalities and result in practical outcomes, especially in attracting foreign investment into the country.

He also stressed that agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during such visits must be implemented promptly, rather than left unused.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Odigie urged supporters of the president to begin shifting their political messaging, noting that the current mandate is gradually nearing its end and discussions should now focus on renewal.

He further stated that the administration must clearly communicate its achievements and present strong reasons for re-election, emphasizing that Nigerians would expect accountability and measurable progress as the term winds down.

Odigie said, “I think the President’s visit to the United Kingdom is a welcome development, and it’s our hope that they are able to facilitate good bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, not just the fun fair.

“They should be able to attract investment home. Such visits are always a plus for Nigeria if properly managed, not just agreements that are signed and later abandoned. We want to see MoUs implemented and put into action immediately.

“For me, Nigerians singing ‘On Your Mandate We stand’—the mandate is almost coming to an end. They should begin to talk about renewal of the mandate.

“The mandate renewal is what we want to hear. The mandate given in 2023 is almost expiring, so we want to hear more about what has been achieved and why Nigerians should renew it.”
