Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has stated that former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has been brought low by karma.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

His remarks come as Malami and his son were ordered to remain in Kuje Correctional Centre until January 7, pending the ruling on their bail applications. Justice Emeka Nwite gave the directive after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defence in the ongoing ₦9 billion corruption trial involving three defendants.

Reacting via his (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, Adeyanju criticised Malami’s record in office, accusing him of disregarding the rule of law and repeatedly flouting court orders while serving as AGF.

“Malami never believed in the rule of law, even as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and he disobeyed several court orders as Attorney General,” Adeyanju wrote. “Today, he has been reduced to absolutely nothing by karma. Those in power often forget that power is temporary.”

Meanwhile, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has also weighed in on Malami’s prosecution.

In a post on his handle, Moghalu said Malami’s arraignment on 16 counts of alleged money laundering, alongside his son and wife, underscores the fleeting nature of political power in Nigeria.

He noted that public office in the country has increasingly drifted away from competence and integrity, warning that those who act as though power is permanent often end up facing the consequences.

“When people behave in office as if tomorrow will never come, the hunters eventually become the hunted,” Moghalu stated.
