Edochie argued that the current situation has gone beyond what government alone can handle. She encouraged community authorities to empower capable young people to help reclaim forests and farmlands that have reportedly fallen under the control of criminal elements.

She maintained that kidnappings could be reduced if communities strengthened their own defenses, adding that armed groups operate freely because of the weapons they possess and the support they once received from corrupt officials.
