Saraki made the clarification while responding to reports suggesting that Tinubu played a role in political actions taken against him during that period.

Speaking on Channels Television, he addressed questions about whether Tinubu had any involvement in the legal and political challenges he faced as Senate President.

According to Saraki, Tinubu did not possess the level of authority many assumed within Buhari’s government and was not part of decisions related to his prosecution.

He stated that the actions leading to his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, as well as investigations connected to the Offa robbery case, were not influenced by Tinubu.

Saraki explained that his decisions while in office were guided by what he believed to be in the national interest, even though they later resulted in what he described as political persecution.

He emphasized that Tinubu was neither involved in initiating nor executing the processes that led to the allegations and legal proceedings against him during that time.
