JAMB emphasized that the alleged announcement did not originate from the board and reassured candidates that preparations for the 2026 UTME are proceeding as planned.

“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious press release suggesting that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. We categorically state that this information is fake and did not come from the board. The board had earlier announced that the examination would take place from Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Ahead of the main exam, JAMB conducted a mock UTME on Saturday, March 28. However, the exercise was disrupted in several centres due to technical issues, leaving many candidates unable to participate.

Of the 224,597 candidates who registered for the mock test, 152,586 were able to successfully sit for the exam across 989 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.

JAMB also disclosed that over 20 CBT centres affected by technical challenges during the mock exercise have since been removed from its list of approved centres due to inadequate infrastructure.
