Ondo Governor Breaks Silence On Alleged Impeachment Plot Against Deputy Adelami

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed claims of an impeachment plot against his deputy, Olayide Adelami.

The alleged plot was reportedly linked to a political power struggle in Owo Local Government, Adelami’s hometown, as well as tensions involving the state’s Commissioner for Finance, Isaacs Omowunmi, a close ally of the governor.

Speculation had also suggested a possible rift between Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, with some alleging that members of the State House of Assembly were attempting to orchestrate Adelami’s impeachment.

However, speaking on Friday during the inauguration of the newly completed Ayegunle-Iwaro Oka road in Akoko South-West Local Government Area, Aiyedatiwa dismissed such claims, insisting there was no discord between him and Adelami.

He described the purported impeachment plan as a fabrication by political opponents seeking to create unrest within his administration.

Addressing his deputy, the governor said, “Mr Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, I acknowledge your presence here. Thank you for representing me yesterday when I had to travel.

“Some people are circulating a fake video and spreading rumours about removing the deputy governor. But where exactly do they think they can remove him from? Please, don’t engage them; they are only seeking attention. That cannot happen, because I’m also a Prophet of God.”
