Osimhen Masterclass! Two Assists As Galatasaray Sh*ck Juventus In UCL Play-Off Thriller

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen starred as Galatasaray stunned Juventus 5-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off in Istanbul on Tuesday night.

Although Osimhen did not score—extending his goalless streak to two matches—he was instrumental in attack, providing two assists as Galatasaray dominated the Italian side.

Galatasaray, appearing in the knockout stage for the first time since the 2013-14 season, started brightly. Gabriel Sara opened the scoring after capitalizing on a loose touch from Kenan Yildiz, slotting past the Juventus goalkeeper.

Juventus responded through Teun Koopmeiners, who converted after Pierre Kalulu’s header was parried. Koopmeiners added a second goal before halftime, combining with Weston McKennie to give Juventus a 2-1 lead at the break.

Osimhen had several early chances, including a volley over the bar and a header saved by Michele Di Gregorio, keeping Galatasaray pressing for an equalizer.

The momentum swung in the second half. Noa Lang levelled after Di Gregorio spilled a shot from Baris Alper Yilmaz, and Davinson Sanchez put the hosts ahead from a free-kick scramble.

Juventus were reduced to 10 men when Juan Cabal received a second yellow card with over 20 minutes remaining, a setback that proved decisive.

Galatasaray capitalized immediately. Osimhen pressed high to win possession and assisted Lang for his second goal, making it 4-2. Later, he provided another assist to substitute Sacha Boey in the 86th minute, sealing a commanding 5-2 victory.

Despite not scoring in his last two matches, Osimhen has contributed two assists in each game, continuing to be central to Galatasaray’s attack.

The result marks Juventus’ first Champions League loss under manager Luciano Spalletti and gives Galatasaray a strong advantage heading into the second leg in Turin.
