Alimi described Akintola’s comments as baseless and politically motivated, expressing disappointment that the former aide seemed detached from the realities on the ground.

“I find it shocking and disheartening that Dr. Bolaji Akintola could lose touch with the actual state of affairs while his boss, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, was in office,” Alimi said.

He added, “Only a mischief-maker or an apologist for the APC-led opposition would dismiss Adeleke’s achievements in the health sector so completely.”

While acknowledging that improvements are still needed, the commissioner stressed that the sector is far better now than under Oyetola’s administration.

“Though there is room for improvement, the current state of healthcare under Adeleke far surpasses what we inherited from the previous government,” he said, alleging that the Oyetola administration failed to meet public expectations.

Alimi also accused the former government of mismanaging funds allocated for health projects. “It is on record that Oyetola’s administration inherited $20 million for healthcare, which was mismanaged. Today, around ₦30 billion remains unaccounted for,” he claimed, adding that petitions regarding the alleged mismanagement have been submitted to anti-graft agencies.

The commissioner said the Adeleke administration has taken decisive steps to revive healthcare, including rehabilitating over 200 primary health care centers across the state, despite political disagreements affecting local government funding.

Highlighting Osun’s achievements, Alimi noted that the state topped the Primary Health Care (PHC) Challenge in the South-West in both 2024 and 2025, earning national recognition and awards despite limited resources.

He questioned Akintola, asking, “If Osun could perform this well without local government funds, what explanation would Oyetola give to states like Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, and Ondo that lagged behind?”

Alimi urged Akintola and other critics to avoid political bitterness and misinformation, warning that ongoing investigations by anti-graft agencies could expose mismanagement under the previous administration.

He concluded by reaffirming the Adeleke administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, despite financial and political hurdles, and called on citizens to acknowledge the government’s achievements.
