Phone-Tap Scandal: Amaechi Backs El-Rufai, Claims Ribadu Plotting “Double Elections
A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has come to the defence of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai over comments concerning the alleged interception of National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu’s communications.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
El-Rufai had earlier stated that he and others listened to Ribadu’s phone conversations after tapping his line, a claim that sparked criticism from several quarters, including the Presidency.
Speaking during an interview on Eagle Media on Tuesday, Amaechi questioned the assertion that El-Rufai had the technical ability to hack or tap the NSA’s phone. He argued that such capabilities lie within the office of the National Security Adviser itself.
Amaechi further alleged that the NSA’s office monitors calls and accused Ribadu of targeting opposition figures while pursuing personal political ambitions ahead of future elections. He claimed that Ribadu is positioning himself for 2031 while also working to secure President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The former Rivers State governor also accused the NSA of attempting to weaken the ADC by allegedly backing parallel factions and fueling internal disputes within the party.
Amaechi concluded by advising Ribadu to concentrate on his security responsibilities, insisting that credible elections must take place in 2027.
