Through her Special Adviser on Media, Mike Idoko, she emphasized that Bello’s entry into the race does not worry her and that she is prepared to contest again if necessary.
“We don’t see it as a threat. In fact, we are happy that he wants to contest. We are waiting for them,” Idoko said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan currently represents Kogi Central in the Senate, having won the seat in 2023 after a protracted legal battle. A lawyer and former gubernatorial aspirant, she is the first woman to serve as senator for the district.
Bello recently announced his senatorial ambitions during a visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he met with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community figures. A video of the visit was later shared on his verified Facebook page.
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and other top political leaders also attended the gathering. Party officials and supporters reportedly encouraged Bello to represent the district in the National Assembly in 2027.
