“Even the claim that I want to block him from joining the APC is not true. If I were self-serving, I would have done so, but instead, I am the one inviting him,” Kalu said, adding that holding the office of governor is not the peak of ambition for people like him.

The Deputy Speaker further stated that his primary focus is attracting development to the Bende Federal Constituency. He added that decisions concerning his future political aspirations would be determined by the APC and the people of Abia State.

Kalu also reaffirmed his support for the creation of an additional state in the South East, saying it would place the region on equal footing with other geopolitical zones.

According to him, the creation of one more state in the South East would promote national unity, cohesion and overall development.

He also refuted reports that some of the road projects he facilitated for Bende had been abandoned, insisting that work on them was ongoing.
