The singer was arraigned on January 12 before a Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun State, facing charges including assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest. He was also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 reportedly worth ₦12 million. Bail was denied at the time due to the absence of the police officer involved, resulting in his continued remand.
Following his release, a video quickly went viral showing Portable being warmly welcomed by friends and associates. In the clip, he humorously declared a new nickname for himself, saying, “My name is now Innocenty,” amid cheers from supporters.
Portable’s manager, Baby Luv, expressed gratitude on Instagram to the singer’s first wife, Bewaji, for supporting him during the ordeal. Sharing a photo of the couple, she wrote, “All glory to God. Grace spoke, mercy prevailed. #Freedom. She stayed when it was hardest. God honoured her faith #Thankful.”
This is not Portable’s first brush with the law. Since gaining fame in 2022, he has been arrested, arraigned, and remanded multiple times—reportedly over eight occasions—across correctional facilities in Kwara, Ogun, and Lagos states.
