Multiple Presidency sources told The PUNCH on Sunday that Edun, 69, is “indisposed” but recovering at home under close medical supervision. They dismissed rumours suggesting that the minister had suffered a stroke or been flown abroad for treatment.

“Yes, he’s indisposed. He’s sick, though a bit serious, but it’s not a stroke,” a senior official explained. “He’s at home receiving treatment. Of course, he may travel for further medical attention if necessary, but for now, he hasn’t been flown anywhere.”

Another source within the Presidency added, “Nigerian doctors are monitoring him. If his condition requires care abroad, arrangements will be made, but at present, he’s still at home. There are no discussions about replacing him.”

Presidency Clarifies IMF–World Bank Delegation
Edun’s health situation became public after the Presidency confirmed that he would not lead Nigeria’s delegation to the upcoming World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C.

In his place, the delegation will be led by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Yemi Cardoso, with the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, also part of the team.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development, saying Edun “suddenly fell ill” but is recuperating in Abuja.

“Yes, he’s indisposed. Wale Edun is about 69 years old. He suddenly took ill, but as we speak, he remains in Nigeria and is recovering well,” Onanuga stated on Sunday evening.
