Despite the setback, David Adeleke maintained a positive outlook. On Monday, he took to his account to share photos from the award ceremony and express gratitude, writing in pidgin English: “Oluwa Dey my side”—meaning “God is on my side.”
In response, Governor Adeleke, who has consistently supported Davido’s musical journey, offered words of praise: “Proud of you always @davido.”
Davido affectionately replied, “Love u Excellency!!! We move ACCORDINGLY SIR.”
According to reports by Naija News, Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his collaboration With You, featuring Omah Lay. However, the award was claimed by South African singer Tyla, marking her second win in the category after previously winning with her hit song Water when the category was first introduced.
Despite missing out on the prestigious award, the DMW boss remained upbeat, leaning on his faith and the support of family, fans, and colleagues in the music industry.
