Sh*ck In Anambra: APC Deputy Guber Candidate Lashes Out At National Leadership After Ukachukwu Loss

The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has faulted the party’s national leadership for failing to provide adequate support to its governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, during the November 8, 2025 election.

Ekwunife made the remarks on Saturday at a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, convened to review the ongoing e‑registration exercise for party members.

She described the enthusiasm and commitment of APC members in Anambra during the election as unprecedented but lamented that the national leadership did not match that dedication with strategic backing.

“The level of support and commitment we witnessed among APC members in Anambra was unlike anything we have seen before,” she said.

Ekwunife insisted that even a modest 20 percent support from the national leadership could have changed the outcome in their favor.

“If the national party had given us even 20 percent of that push, we would have gone far. We failed everyone—our party and our people,” she added.

While acknowledging divine will in election outcomes, she emphasized the importance of hard work and unity.

“Yes, it is true that God gives power to whom He wills… and He can give it to us if we work for it,” Ekwunife said, citing the biblical teaching to “give Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to Him.”

She said the unity and determination displayed by APC members in the state were clear signs that the party was on the verge of electoral success—if properly supported.

“For the first time, APC members in Anambra genuinely wanted to win… but all they needed was support,” she said.

Turning to the ongoing e‑registration drive, Ekwunife urged members to fully participate, stressing that the exercise is not merely a headcount but a strategic database to guide party rewards.

“Some see this process as just registration, but it is a crucial database designed to empower party members,” she said.

Ekwunife also reaffirmed the party’s unity behind President Bola Tinubu as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

“I want to assure you that we already have our candidate for 2027—President Bola Tinubu. We have agreed he will fly the party’s flag, and we will support him,” she declared.

She spoke positively of her experience in the Senate with Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expressing confidence in the leadership of the President and his wife.

“With her and her husband, Nigeria is in good hands,” she added.

Earlier, APC State Chairman Basil Ejidike expressed concern over the low turnout in the e‑registration exercise, noting that Anambra and Abuja were the poorest performing chapters.

He urged party members to increase their participation to strengthen the party’s membership base.

According to the State e‑Registration Coordinator, Joe Okekeuche, only 17,488 people have registered so far, with Njikoka, Awka South, and Onitsha South emerging as the best-performing local government areas.

Leaders from these areas were recognized for their efforts, while Ihiala, Idemili South, and Anambra West were flagged as the least performing.
