The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly refuted claims that Senator David Mark has stepped down as the party’s National Chairman, describing the reports as entirely false.
In a statement released by the chairman’s media office, the party labelled the allegation as a deliberate fabrication, blaming it on what it called mischievous and irresponsible propagandists.
The ADC maintained that Mark remains the duly recognised National Chairman, stressing that there are no plans—either by him or the party leadership—for him to resign.
Reports circulating online had suggested that Mark had exited the role, with Ralph Nwosu expected to take over and steer the party toward its upcoming convention. However, the party dismissed the claims as misleading and malicious.
According to the statement, the narrative exists only in the imagination of those attempting to spread misinformation and create confusion within the party.
The ADC reiterated that its leadership remains united and committed to strengthening democratic ideals while positioning the party for success in future elections.
It also warned against attempts to destabilise the party, suggesting such actions are driven by concerns over its growing political relevance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party urged Nigerians to ignore the rumours and remain confident in its leadership, stability, and commitment to preserving a multi-party democratic system.
