Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has suggested that the recent deadly attack in Jos happened because both residents and security operatives were taken by surprise, following a prolonged period of relative peace in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Mutfwang explained that the attackers deliberately studied the behaviour of the community and imitated the operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to carry out the assault without raising suspicion.

He described the incident as deeply unfortunate and concerning, but expressed hope that it would remain an isolated case. According to him, the period of calm experienced in the state over the past 10 to 12 months contributed to the lack of preparedness among both citizens and security personnel.

Mutfwang noted that the attackers appeared to have exploited the familiarity of NDLEA-style operations in neighbouring areas, arriving hooded and using tactics that made residents initially believe it was a routine enforcement exercise.

He said this led to a delayed response, as many people did not react immediately. By the time the situation became clear, significant damage had already been done, and the attackers had escaped before security forces could intervene.

The governor described the attack as troubling, especially given that it occurred within a city setting, but expressed confidence that it would not happen again, adding that efforts were ongoing to prevent a recurrence.
