Sh*cking Crackdown: Immigration Service Suspends Senior Officers Over Extortion Claims

As part of immediate actions, Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, ordered the suspension of comptrollers overseeing the affected commands to allow for an unhindered and transparent investigation.

In a statement released by the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the Comptroller General strongly condemned the alleged conduct, describing it as a violation of the agency’s core values and operational standards.

Nandap stated that such behaviour is “unacceptable” and undermines the ethical principles guiding the Service.

The NIS leadership also directed a full-scale investigation to identify all officers involved in the alleged extortion activities.

According to the statement, a detailed probe has been mandated, with assurances that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found culpable.

The Service stressed that any officer found guilty would face sanctions in line with established regulations.

Reaffirming its stance, the NIS said it remains committed to professionalism, efficiency, and maintaining public trust across all border operations.

It added that acts capable of damaging the institution’s integrity or public confidence would not be tolerated under any circumstance.

The agency also urged members of the public to report cases of misconduct through its 24-hour contact channels and official platforms.

It further noted that internal monitoring systems are being strengthened to improve accountability and ensure higher standards of discipline across all formations.
