The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka.
One of the suspects, Yashim Kajang, a resident of Kurudu in Abuja, was apprehended on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He allegedly convinced retired Major General A.K. Ibrahim and other victims that he had strong links with the FCT Minister and the Director of Lands.
Kajang reportedly promised to secure land documents for Plot 1985 in Guzape II, Abuja, spanning three hectares, along with additional plots, and in the process collected more than ₦150 million from the victims.
During interrogation, Kajang named three alleged accomplices—Stephen Mhambe, Danladi Jatau, and Terngu Ipaven.
Mhambe and Jatau are said to work in the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, while Ipaven resides in Durumi 2, Abuja.
Kajang reportedly admitted that the trio supplied him with land-related information and data used to carry out the fraudulent scheme.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to uncover more details surrounding the case.
