The actor, widely known for his role in Papa Ajasco and Company, returned to public attention in March 2026 after a viral interview with media personality Lucky Udu. In the interview, he opened up about the struggles he has faced despite spending many years in the entertainment industry, sparking widespread reactions from Nigerians.
Following the interview, producer Wale Adenuga responded, stating that Ayoyinka had received support during his time on the show, including access to vehicles such as a Mercedes-Benz.
The situation later escalated when Udu publicly expressed disappointment, accusing the actor of not showing enough appreciation for the attention brought to his situation. He also revealed that he had attempted to arrange additional support, including a planned meeting with a pastor in Abuja, which ultimately did not materialize. Udu added that the experience reminded him of previous efforts to assist public figures that did not end well.
In a recent interview with Daddy Freeze, Ayoyinka clarified the situation, rejecting claims that he received expensive gifts and explaining what truly happened after the interview gained traction.
According to him, the exposure helped revive his public image and created new opportunities. He noted that many Nigerians reached out with financial assistance, with total donations amounting to nearly six million naira. Contributions ranged from as little as ₦1,000 to as much as ₦1 million.
He emphasized that, contrary to widespread reports, he did not receive any car or large dollar gift. Ayoyinka stated that he still relies on public transportation and has not been given any vehicle, despite some people visiting his home expecting to see one.
He expressed gratitude to his supporters and to Udu for the platform, saying the interview gave him “a new life and a new beginning.”
Responding to Adenuga’s remarks, Ayoyinka explained that he once owned a vehicle—an old Mercedes 200—during his acting career, but no longer has it.
He said his main goal in speaking out is to correct misinformation about his situation and the kind of support he has actually received.
Ayoyinka also addressed his relationship with Udu, noting that he made efforts to stay in contact after the interview and even planned to meet him in Abuja, but was unable to reach him as his calls went unanswered.
