Sowore Breaks Silence: Why I Won’t Join Peter Obi Or Atiku In Opposition
Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore has announced that he will not align himself with prominent opposition figures such as Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The former presidential candidate argued that many opposition politicians lack a genuine commitment to reforming Nigeria’s political system.
In an interview with Channels TV, Sowore explained that several opposition leaders hold their positions not because they challenge government failures, but simply because they failed to establish strong connections with the current administration. He suggested that their focus is more on personal gain than addressing the country’s pressing problems.
Sowore emphasized that real opposition comes from ordinary Nigerians—youths, unemployed citizens, and workers without robust legal protections—who continue to bear the consequences of systemic dysfunction. These groups, he said, embody genuine resistance to the entrenched political structure.
He stated:
“I am committed to opposing the system, but I cannot join an opposition that does not challenge the rot and destruction inflicted upon this country.
I will not align with people whose agenda is merely to come, loot, and worsen Nigeria’s state. That is not opposition in my view.
True opposition is not for the name or title; it is for the people who have been cheated, the weak, and the oppressed. That is the opposition we need, and that is the one we are driving.”
