Tension In Kebbi As Governor Reacts To Brutal Killing Of Soldiers In Fresh Attack

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Nigerian soldiers in a recent attack in the state.

Reports indicate that an unspecified number of troops lost their lives following a fresh terrorist assault in the Girinmasa area of Yauri Local Government Area, Kebbi State.

Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the incident in a post on his handle on Tuesday, stating that suspected Lakurawa fighters attacked soldiers stationed in the area, leading to casualties.

Speaking to journalists during a visit to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday, Governor Idris described the incident as tragic and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

He assured that the state government would take responsibility for the medical treatment of injured soldiers and support the families of those who died.

He said, “This is a sad incident. These are the soldiers who protect the lives of Kebbi residents, yet they found themselves in this situation. The Kebbi State Government will not relent in its efforts to protect the lives of its citizens.”

The governor also visited the mortuary and the accident and emergency unit of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where victims of the attack were receiving treatment and where the bodies of the deceased were taken.
