The development was disclosed on Saturday by the Interim National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, who called for urgent intervention and legal assistance. Mama P’s arrest follows allegations of an altercation with former Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, at the Abuja Airport.

In a post on X, Tanko wrote:

“Mama P is being detained at the State CID, Edo State Police headquarters, off Sapele Road, Benin City. I have instructed our legal director to deploy lawyers for her rescue. We need more people—lawyers, civil society, and concerned citizens—to act immediately. We need everyone’s support for her NOW!”

A viral video captured the activist being accosted by some young men at the exit of the Benin Airport before security and immigration officers intervened.

Mama P alleged that one of the men struck her in the eye while another threatened to shoot.

“Look at them, they want to beat me! After I confronted Julius Abure, he brought thugs to harass me,” she said in one of the clips, pointing at the group she accused of attacking her.

She further narrated that she confronted Abure onboard a Max Air flight, accusing him of “selling out the Labour Party and destroying the lives of Nigerians,” before being allegedly targeted at the airport.
