Kingsley Moghalu, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has weighed in on the ongoing prosecution of ex-Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a post on his account, Moghalu remarked that Malami’s Tuesday arraignment, alongside his wife and son, on 16 counts of alleged money laundering involving billions of naira, underscores the fleeting nature of power in Nigeria.

He highlighted that public office in the country has increasingly drifted away from competence and integrity.

Moghalu wrote:
*”By now, anyone assuming public office in Nigeria should grasp the transience of power, especially in a system where holding office has progressively become disconnected from competence, ideology, or values like integrity. When people act as if tomorrow will never come, the hunters will eventually become the hunted.

This is a general observation, not a determination of Mr. Malami’s guilt. Let the courts decide his innocence or culpability—if they do—and if this case does not fade into yet another unresolved corruption saga.

On a related note, it was curious to observe the CBN increasingly functioning as the ‘Central Bank of Agriculture’ under the erstwhile central banking prodigy, Mr. Emefiele.”*
