Pastor Okafor made the remarks on Sunday during his marriage thanksgiving service, indirectly addressing the scandal that has gained widespread attention on social media. A video of his comments has since gone viral.

According to reports by Naija News, Doris Ogala was arrested at her residence on Saturday, December 20, 2025, following public allegations that Pastor Okafor failed to honour a promise of marriage she claimed he made to her.

Speaking to his congregation, Okafor explained that his decision to remain silent until now was guided by divine instruction and caution.

He acknowledged the emotional toll of being misrepresented but said he deliberately avoided responding publicly to the claims.

“It can be painful to be falsely portrayed as something you are not, or accused of things you have never known or experienced in your life. But we leave it there for now. Thanks be to the Lord,” he said.

The cleric added that engaging directly with the allegations would only elevate his detractors.

“We will never dignify a mad devil by replying. Doing so would amount to glorifying the devil,” Okafor stated.

He emphasized that his relationship with God is deeply personal and not subject to public interpretation.

“From my upbringing, I have known God as my Father, and nobody can tell me otherwise. No one outside knows my Father more than I do,” he said.

Okafor also urged his followers to respect the rule of law and allow the authorities to handle the matter appropriately.

“In everything we do—through prayer, study, and waiting on the Lord—we also follow the law of the land. The law is already taking its course,” he said.

“Whatever allegation is made must be proven in a court of law. We are not silent; we are praying and taking the mature path. The truth will come out.”

He further hinted that there are aspects of the case he cannot disclose publicly due to ongoing investigations and legal proceedings.

“Since the authorities are handling the matter, I cannot speak openly about certain details. You would be surprised by the people involved behind the scenes, but I will not jeopardise the investigation or the court process,” he added.
