This Government Was Taken From Us” – Kwankwaso Sparks Fresh Kano Debate

Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed disappointment over the Kano State Government he helped bring to power leaving the Kwankwasiyya movement to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso made the remarks shortly after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his supporters were officially received into the APC.

In a video shared on Sunusi Oscar’s Facebook page, the former governor said he could not understand why a government built under the Kwankwasiyya framework was shifted to what he called the “Gandujiyya” faction, associated with former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

“This government was formed with immense sacrifice, yet without any clear explanation, it was taken away from our Kwankwasiyya structure and moved elsewhere,” he lamented.

He described the move as painful and discouraging, noting that only God truly knows the reasons behind it, while expressing hope that the outcome would ultimately favor his supporters.

Kwankwaso also congratulated the Kano State House of Assembly members who won the recent elections in Ungogo and parts of Kano Municipal, despite what he described as low voter turnout.

He urged members of the Kwankwasiyya movement to stay resilient, adding that those who joined the APC could still return, emphasizing that the movement’s doors remain open to anyone willing to come back.
