Total War! PENGASSAN Orders Shutdown Of Crude And Gas Supply To Dangote Refinery

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has directed its members to immediately suspend the supply of crude oil and gas to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, following the dismissal of more than 800 workers who recently joined the union.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a circular issued on Saturday and signed by its General Secretary, Lumumba Okugbawa, the union described the refinery’s action as “illegitimate and provocative,” vowing to resist what it termed an attack on workers’ rights.
Addressed to branch chairmen nationwide, the directive ordered members to take firm action against the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility.
PENGASSAN wrote:
“As you are aware, the management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has disengaged our members in retaliation for exercising their constitutional right to unionise.
Rather than engage meaningfully, they have resorted to propaganda to justify this illegality.
“Consequently, you are hereby instructed to cut off gas supply to NGIC with immediate effect. All crude oil valves to the refinery must be shut, and loading operations for any vessel headed there halted without delay.”
Okugbawa specifically tasked the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) branch with ensuring gas flow to the refinery is cut off, while all branch leaders must provide progress reports on compliance.
He ended the directive with the union’s rallying cry: “Injury to one, injury to all.”
This escalation comes less than 24 hours after Dangote Refinery confirmed some staff dismissals over alleged sabotage, though it denied targeting workers for joining the union.
PENGASSAN, however, maintains that more than 800 Nigerian employees were unfairly sacked after registering with the union, accusing management of union-busting and anti-labour practices.
