Tragedy In Abuja: NSCDC Female Officer Crushed To Death During ‘Show Of Force’ Exercise
A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reportedly lost her life following an accident during a display exercise in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The incident, captured in a 58-second video that surfaced on social media on Saturday, allegedly occurred during a “show of force” parade organised by the Corps’ Female Strike Force, also referred to as the Female Squad.
In the footage, a black operational van with red wheels, branded “Female Squad,” is seen moving in formation, followed closely by another vehicle marked “Female Strike Force FCT Command.”
While manoeuvring, the lead vehicle reportedly struck and ran over one of the officers, trapping her underneath.
The video shows a frantic scene as fellow NSCDC personnel and onlookers quickly gathered at the scene. Several people were seen attempting to lift the vehicle to rescue the officer before she was placed into an ambulance.
Although the Corps had not released an official statement at the time of reporting, TheCable quoted NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale as confirming the officer’s death in a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon.
The identity of the deceased had not yet been made public. Babawale reportedly stated that a comprehensive statement would be issued to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The tragedy has triggered widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing shock and urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the fatal accident.
