In a brief statement, the club confirmed that Osimhen, along with several other senior players, has been given “active rest.”

This comes just days after the Nigerian forward starred against Alanyaspor in the league, scoring and assisting in a 3-1 Süper Lig victory. Osimhen has been a key figure in Galatasaray’s campaign across multiple competitions.

The Istanbul club is currently engaged in a tense Süper Lig title race, pursuing a fourth consecutive crown, while also preparing for a challenging UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash with Liverpool, following a dramatic knockout-stage qualification over Juventus.

A packed schedule of six matches in 19 days has forced the club’s hand, including a pivotal away derby against Beşiktaş, with rivals Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor ready to capitalize on any slip-ups.

Following the weekend win, Osimhen called for composure within the squad as the season enters a critical phase.

“The Beşiktaş match is a crucial one,” he told the club’s official website.
“We’re taking it one game at a time. It will be a tough match against a very strong team, but we also have a very strong squad. We’ll go there for three points.
