We Want To Change Kano!’ — Peter Obi Speaks After High-Profile Meeting With Rabiu Kwankwaso

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has clarified that his recent visit to Rabiu Kwankwaso in Kano was not politically motivated.

Despite this, Obi revealed there are intentions to revive Kano’s economic strength and restore its status as an industrial hub.

He made the remarks on Sunday after meeting Kwankwaso at his Miller Road residence. The gathering was also attended by Seyi Makinde, Seriake Dickson, activist Naajatu Mohammed, and other notable figures.

Speaking to a large crowd during the annual Kwankwasiyya Sallah celebration, Obi emphasized that his visit was to celebrate the festive period and show respect to Kwankwaso, rather than for political reasons.

However, he highlighted a broader vision for Kano, stating the need to rebuild its industrial base, including reviving factories in areas like Bompai and Sharada, as well as restoring key institutions such as the Bank of the North.

Kwankwaso, in his remarks, expressed delight at hosting the leaders during the Sallah festivities.

Meanwhile, the high-profile meeting has sparked fresh speculation about possible political realignments ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
