The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has said the increasing number of politicians leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling party is due to the APC’s ability to provide a more viable political platform.
He criticised the PDP, claiming the party’s internal crisis has weakened its ability to function effectively as a political organisation.
Morka also rejected claims that Nigeria is drifting toward a one-party system, arguing that the movement of politicians into the APC should instead be viewed as a vote of confidence in the ruling party.
According to him, the PDP’s internal problems have made it difficult for the party to provide its members with a practical and reliable platform to pursue their political ambitions.
He added that when politicians choose to defect to the APC, it reflects their belief that the ruling party offers opportunities and political structures that the opposition currently lacks.
Morka further described suggestions that Nigeria is becoming a one-party state as misleading, insisting that such claims ignore the realities and history of democratic politics in the country.
