Wike Warns Gov Fubara, APC Defectors: “Switching Parties Won’t Guarantee You A Ticket In 2027
Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cautioned that defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or publicly pledging loyalty to President Bola Tinubu does not automatically guarantee a second-term ticket.
The former Rivers State governor issued the warning while speaking to supporters during a political engagement in Emohua Local Government Area, part of his ongoing consultations across the state.
Wike, who was welcomed by the Emohua Local Government Chairman, Chidi Lloyd, traditional ruler Sergeant Awuse, and other party leaders, used the occasion to underscore his long-standing views on political loyalty and commitments.
Addressing the crowd, he said:
“The issue is not whether you support Tinubu. That was settled a long time ago. Nobody should come to me claiming allegiance to Tinubu thinking it will secure them a ticket. Who in Rivers State is not for Tinubu? That alone cannot guarantee you any ticket!”
His remarks follow the defection of his successor, Governor Fubara, and others to the ruling party—moves that came weeks after Fubara’s clash and subsequent reconciliation with Wike.
