Woman’s Untimely Death Sparks Investigation As Boyfriend Disappears

A 27-year-old woman, identified as Esther Akwaji, reportedly collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances while eating at her boyfriend’s home in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council, within the Federal Capital Territory.

The boyfriend, whose identity has not been disclosed, allegedly fled the scene shortly after the incident.

Sources told Sahara Reporters that Esther, a resident of Nasarawa State, had traveled to Abuja to visit family members. On January 21, she reportedly left her family home, saying she was going to a bank in the Dei-Dei area, but she never returned.

Hours later, family members received a call from a man claiming to be Esther’s boyfriend, using her phone. The man reportedly told them that Esther had visited him and that he had prepared food for them to eat.

According to the source, the boyfriend said that while they were eating, Esther suddenly began vomiting. He claimed to have rushed her to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors reportedly confirmed she was dead on arrival.

The man, however, allegedly fled the hospital soon after and has remained unreachable since.

Confirming the case, the Federal Capital Territory Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said a full investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding Esther’s death.

“The body has been sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” Adeh stated.
