In a communiqué signed by the forum’s secretary, Ajibola Akinloye, and 14 other members, the group highlighted that Osun West has been marginalized in the party’s gubernatorial race since 1999.
“We strongly request that the governorship ticket be zoned to the West Senatorial District, which has never been given the opportunity in the Progressive Party since 1999, unlike the two other Senatorial Districts,” the communiqué
the group emphasized their commitment to equity, justice, and fairness, asserting that the time has come for Osun West to be given a chance to produce the APC candidate for governor.
Support For Adegboyega Oyetola
While advocating for Osun West, the forum reaffirmed their loyalty to APC leader and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, recognizing his influence and leadership within the party.
“Our appeal/request is subject to the decision of our leader, H.E. Gboyega Oyetola, who has the right of first refusal for the APC governorship ticket,” the communiqué added.
The former lawmakers expressed their trust in Oyetola’s judgment and reiterated their readiness to support his political decisions.
The forum also urged the APC leadership to initiate party activities from the polling units to the state level without delay, stressing the importance of reclaiming power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next election.
“That party activities should begin immediately from polling units to the state level to ensure the ruling party in the state (PDP) is ousted by 2026,” the communiqué stated.
