The Super Eagles are set to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a home clash against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Wednesday, September 23.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Nigeria will be aiming to secure maximum points in their opening Group fixture before travelling to Morocco four days later for another crucial encounter against Guinea-Bissau.

The match against Guinea-Bissau, scheduled for Sunday, September 27, will be Nigeria’s second qualifying game, with Tanzania completing the four-team group.

The Super Eagles are expected to enter the qualifying campaign with strong ambitions after finishing third at the most recent AFCON tournament hosted by Morocco. Nigeria, who have won the continental competition three times, will be hoping to secure qualification and challenge for another title under head coach Eric Chelle.

Chelle’s team last played in June when they faced Portugal in an international friendly, giving the coach an opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the competitive fixtures.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Falconets have completed their final preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after playing out a 1-1 draw against Korea Republic in their last warm-up match on Tuesday.

Mary Mamudu gave Nigeria the lead in the 29th minute, continuing her impressive scoring form after also finding the net in the Falconets’ previous friendly against Poland.

Korea Republic eventually restored parity from the penalty spot with 12 minutes remaining, ensuring both teams finished their final preparatory game with a draw.

The Falconets, coached by Moses Aduku, will begin their World Cup campaign against Spain at the Arena Sosnowiec in Sosnowiec on Monday, September 7.

Nigeria will then face China at the same venue on Thursday, September 10, before concluding their Group F campaign against New Caledonia at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź in Łódź on Sunday, September 13.
