2027 Begins Early: Alex Otti’s LP Unveils Key Committees Ahead Of Election Battle

Labour Party stakeholders in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, have reaffirmed their support for Governor Alex Otti and announced the formation of three strategic committees to strengthen the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The resolutions were reached during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday and convened by the Chairman of the forum and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba.

According to a communiqué issued after the meeting, the gathering focused on sustaining the party’s achievements, promoting internal unity and expanding grassroots mobilisation across Nsulu in preparation for future elections.

The stakeholders commended Governor Otti for what they described as significant developmental strides across Abia State, particularly in Nsulu. They highlighted key projects such as the Abia International Airport, the Umuomaiukwu Smart School and ongoing road infrastructure, saying the projects have strengthened public confidence in the administration.

The forum stressed the need for greater unity within the Labour Party, insisting that every member, irrespective of when they joined the party, should enjoy equal rights, fairness and opportunities. It noted that inclusiveness and mutual respect remain essential to the party’s continued growth.

The communiqué, jointly signed by Ajagba and the Joint Acting Secretaries, Dr. Chibuzo Emeruwa and Dr. Enyichukwu Olumba, stated that the forum would intensify grassroots sensitisation to showcase the achievements of the Otti administration while consolidating support for the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 polls.

The stakeholders also pledged their commitment to supporting all Labour Party candidates in future elections, emphasizing that the party’s success depends on unity, cooperation and coordinated efforts.

The communiqué read in part: “We reaffirmed our commitment to supporting all candidates of the Labour Party at every level of the forthcoming elections, recognising that the success of the party depends on collective responsibility, unity of purpose and coordinated action.”

The forum further welcomed Ajagba’s assurance that the Abia State Government had approved compensation for individuals affected by land acquisition for the Abia International Airport project, expressing confidence that all qualified beneficiaries would receive their entitlements.

It also praised the government’s efforts to improve electricity supply in Nsulu, particularly in Umunna Nsulu, expressing optimism that work on the project would begin soon.

In addition, the stakeholders encouraged youths and other eligible residents to participate in the state’s empowerment and capacity-building initiatives, including TECHRISE, the Abia Leadership Academy, the Abia Smart School Initiative and other youth-focused programmes.

To drive its resolutions, the forum approved the establishment of three committees: the Empowerment Committee, the Voter Education and Sensitisation Committee, and the Mobilisation Committee.

The Empowerment Committee will identify and coordinate qualified beneficiaries for government employment, entrepreneurship, empowerment and skills development programmes.

The Voter Education and Sensitisation Committee has been tasked with promoting Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, civic participation and public awareness of the Labour Party-led administration’s achievements.

Meanwhile, the Mobilisation Committee will strengthen grassroots party structures, foster reconciliation among members where necessary, engage key stakeholders and coordinate support for Labour Party candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

The stakeholders also appealed to the state government to accelerate ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects in Nsulu, particularly strategic road construction, electricity and other public amenities that would enhance socio-economic development.

They urged party members and supporters to remain peaceful throughout the electioneering period by embracing issue-based campaigns, political tolerance and responsible democratic participation.

The forum concluded by appreciating Pastor Ajagba for his leadership and dedication to the development of Nsulu, while reaffirming its commitment to working collectively to sustain good governance, deepen democratic values and strengthen the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
