He stated that being widely loved or supported online does not necessarily translate into electoral victory.

According to him, politicians who receive heavy praise on social media often struggle at the polls, while those who are frequently criticized online sometimes end up winning elections.

He made the comments via his Instagram story, explaining that online reactions do not always reflect real-life voting behaviour.

To support his point, he referenced Lagos lawmaker Desmond Elliot, noting that despite facing intense online criticism in the past, he still won his election.

In his post, he wrote: “People wey una dey love for social media no dey ever win election na the ones wey dem dey abuse online na them dey always win. I use Hon. Desmond Elliot own know, once social media dey curse you out you don win be that. Social media candidates no deh ever win. The businessman has recently been more outspoken about politics, openly supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
