Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has pledged to continue running for president as long as he remains healthy.

In an interview with the Hausa service of Voice of America in Abuja, Atiku was asked if he would contest again. He responded, “Of course, I will keep contesting again and again as long as I am alive and healthy. Even former US President Abraham Lincoln contested seven times before finally winning.”

Atiku emphasized that winning the election requires more than individual effort, highlighting the need for strong support and collaboration with other parties, especially given the current state of the PDP. Atiku, who will be 81 by the next presidential election in 2027, has run for the presidency six times, appearing on the ballot as a candidate in 2007, 2019, and 2023.

We are going to support whoever is chosen to represent us in the forthcoming elections.”
