Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State, addressed rumors suggesting that LP had entered into a merger deal with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). While he did not confirm or deny ongoing merger discussions, he was clear that there is “no agreement yet.”
He urged all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations, to come together, as only in unity can the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of “mismanaging” the nation’s resources, be defeated.
Obi also expressed concern over the country’s security situation, describing it as tragic. He lamented that many Nigerians are losing their lives due to banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping for ransom.
Furthermore, he criticized the current administration’s claims of fighting corruption, arguing that corruption remains rampant in Nigeria, with the cost of governance soaring and leading to an increase in public debt.
Obi pointed out that the situation had worsened due to government officials’ reckless handling of public funds, citing excessive foreign travels as a prime example of this mismanagement in 2024.
