2027 Politics Heats Up: Wike Says Presidency Doesn’t Depend On Governors

Wike made the declaration on Saturday during the inauguration of the group’s Port Harcourt office.
At the event, the FCT minister highlighted that Rivers political figures have the structure and influence to independently rally support for the President.
He stated: “We are working for President Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilize us. We have the capacity to act independently. We have senators, Assembly members, local government chairmen, National Assembly members, and party leaders in both APC and PDP.”
Wike emphasized that genuine political support comes from personal conviction rather than external direction.
“We have organized ourselves to show our commitment because true support cannot be imposed – it must come from within,” he added.
He described the move as a demonstration of unity among Rivers State political stakeholders, noting that local leaders had proactively pledged their allegiance to the President.
The statement comes amid ongoing tension between Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara over control of the state’s political structure.
