Speaking at the inauguration of the Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ office in Port Harcourt, Wike said such individuals will ultimately face the consequences of their actions.

“Whether you are a senator, House of Representatives member, minister, or governor, if you back betrayal, life will repay you in kind. Betrayal is your portion,” Wike stated.

He continued, “The day you are betrayed, there will be nothing you can do. You will collapse, and people will announce your death. That is the seed you are planting, and whatever you sow, you will reap. If you are sowing betrayal, betrayal will follow you everywhere. Every governor seeking a second term or backing a successor through betrayal will never survive it.”

In a related declaration, Wike said political leaders in Rivers State do not need a governor’s support to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. During the Port Harcourt event, he emphasized that Rivers leaders have the structure and influence to mobilize support independently.

“We are working for President Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilize us. We have the resources to operate independently — senators, assembly members, local government chairmen, National Assembly members, and party chairmen of both APC and PDP,” he said.

Wike further stressed that genuine political support stems from personal conviction rather than external influence.

“We have organized ourselves to show our commitment because true support must come from within. You cannot be pushed into it; you have to make that commitment yourself,” he explained.

He described the initiative as a sign of unity among Rivers State political stakeholders, noting that local leaders had proactively pledged their allegiance to the President.

Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have been at odds over control of the state’s political structure, marking ongoing tensions in the South-South region.
