Eba made the declaration on Thursday during a grand “Thank You” rally and reception at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, organized by APC members from the Southern Senatorial District. The event also served as a platform for the party to reaffirm its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Otu’s re-election bids in 2027.
Speaking to a crowd of party faithful, Eba stated that both President Tinubu and Governor Otu had earned the party’s full confidence through their performance over the past year.
“Given the achievements of our President and Governor, we have unanimously passed a vote of confidence for their re-election in 2027,” he said. “Any APC member who declares to contest against Governor Otu will be expelled without hesitation.”
Also addressing the gathering, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, representing Cross River South, commended President Tinubu for his bold economic reforms. He referenced Tinubu’s legacy in Lagos between 1999 and 2007, particularly in security and governance, which helped transform Lagos into Africa’s second-largest economy with a valuation exceeding $259 billion.
Ekpenyong applauded Tinubu’s removal of the fuel subsidy and currency reforms, saying these measures were essential steps toward restoring economic integrity. “We endorse him for a second term because he came in and dismantled the corrupt fuel subsidy regime,” he added.
In his remarks, Governor Bassey Otu thanked President Tinubu for his continued support and vowed to deliver 96% of Cross River’s votes to the president in the next election.
