2027 Showdown: Orji Kalu, Theodore Orji Join Forces To Oust Governor Otti

Speaking at the meeting on Friday, Kalu disclosed that the gathering brought together former political leaders who governed or held public office in Abia State between 2009 and 2023, with the intention of building a formidable and united political front.

The senator representing Abia North called for the expansion of the group to accommodate all former officeholders from the period, stressing that their collective experience and contributions to the state should not be dismissed.

According to Kalu, the group—popularly referred to as “The Team”—played a significant role in shaping Abia State during their years in leadership. He dismissed suggestions that past administrations were inconsequential, describing governance as a continuous process rather than an isolated effort.

“Leadership is a relay,” Kalu said. “I handed over to Senator T.A. Orji, who then handed over to Okezie Ikpeazu. No one can claim that nothing was achieved. If nothing was done, where would our people be today?”

He further stated that the group is determined to effect political change in Abia State in 2027. Kalu added that the platform is non-partisan and open to collaboration with allies across different political parties.
