Addressing his supporters at a political event, Kalu described Governor Otti as a one-term governor, insisting that he lacks the political experience required to retain power. The former Abia State governor boldly stated that Otti should “write his will,” as the APC is fully prepared to reclaim the state in the next election cycle.

Kalu further pledged to embark on a statewide, door-to-door campaign to ensure Otti’s defeat in 2027.

Responding to comments previously made by the governor, Kalu said, “The governor once told those who want to succeed him to go and write their wills. He should write his own first because we are taking over.

“The governor is a joker. He doesn’t understand politics. He is a banker, and to me, he is a one-term governor.

“Abia people will speak with one voice. We do not tolerate election rigging in this state.”

In reaction, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Alex Otti on Public Communication, Dodoh Okafor, dismissed Kalu’s remarks, asserting that the senator would be disappointed in the 2027 election.

Okafor accused Kalu of relying on external political influence to secure electoral victory, noting that such dependence stems from concerns that APC members in Abia North and voters across the state may not support him.

He maintained that many APC members would work against Kalu, adding that Governor Otti’s administration is delivering higher-quality projects than those executed during Kalu’s tenure as governor—achievements he said would guarantee Otti a second term.

Okafor further claimed that any candidate endorsed by Governor Otti in the 2027 elections would emerge victorious.
