2027 Tension: APC Bribing Our Members To Defect – PDP Blows Hot
The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has declared that party members found sabotaging the party will face disciplinary measures at the appropriate time.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Damagum made this known while addressing the press in Abuja on Wednesday, following a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting aimed at strengthening party unity after the official reinstatement of Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary. The reinstatement came after prolonged internal conflicts dating back to the 2023 presidential election and worsened in 2024 due to disputes over the secretariat position. The matter was finally resolved in Anyanwu’s favour during the party’s 100th National Executive Committee meeting on Monday.
Reaffirming that the PDP remains united, Damagum accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to destabilize the opposition by enticing PDP members with money and intimidation.
“Our leaders have come together to provide solid leadership, which is evident in the current NWC,” he said. “This is the only political party in Nigeria with such longevity, and we’ve mastered the art of resolving our issues internally.”
He continued: “To those thinking of defecting, let me remind them that nowhere else offers the same level of inclusion and unity as the PDP. If they choose to leave, we wish them well — but we know many will eventually return.”
Damagum warned members tarnishing the image of the party, stating, “We are drawing a line. Those who go out to undermine the PDP will be monitored, and we will take appropriate action when necessary. True party loyalists should be proud ambassadors, upholding the legacy of what PDP achieved while in power.”
Sending a strong message to the APC, Damagum said: “You may continue to harass and buy our members, but come 2027, it will be Nigerians versus the APC. Now is the time to change course — the people are overwhelmed by hunger, insecurity, and unchecked exploitation.”
“We are in a democracy. The voices of the people must be heard. Democracy thrives when leaders listen, not rule over the masses. Policies should serve everyone, not just a privileged few,” he concluded.
